Bill Lavery was 18 years old when his parents co-signed a $15,000 loan at Corry Consumer Credit in the 1980s so he could open Lavery’s If You Can’t Stop … Wave. The business, located in a nearby town, evolved from a gas station and convenience store to include a laundromat. His wife, Becky, is a Corry native, so they brought what they did best to Corry in 2022. Now, residents and dog tails alike wave for Lavery’s laundromat. Lavery’s Laundromat and Dog Wash, located on East Washington Street, includes washers and dryers, which are cleaned daily, in addition to a self-service dog wash. Becky’s least favorite chore is laundry, so she wanted the laundromat to be a place people truly wanted to visit. With Bill’s laundromat expertise and admiration for Corry, the pieces just fell into place to create a top-of-the-line laundromat. Bill found that a fair portion of the downtown population walked instead of driving, which can be treacherous in bad weather. Lavery’s is a walkable option for residents, visitors, and their furry friends, too. The self-service dog wash includes various shampoo and dry options depending on your pup’s needs; there’s a de-skunk shampoo, oatmeal treatment, super or gentle dry settings, and more. A separate entrance for the dog wash enables owners peace of mind that their pup won’t be spooked by noises or people, and laundromat customers can rest knowing dogs won’t be tracking any dirt in. The dog wash area is ventilated and sprayed with special treatment so the smell of wet dog is not an issue. A TV, free internet, and skills games round out the business to ensure customers have the best experience possible — a goal the Laverys strive to meet every day. So if you can’t stop … wave!
