If Jon Maker had an axe to grind, it would likely be for the people who believe there’s nothing fun to do in Corry. His specialty is breaking through the untapped potential and creating memorable experiences. After opening KC’s Ice Cream and KC’s Xpress, Maker expanded the family business to include Corry AXE — an axe-throwing company. Corry AXE has throwing cages where guests attempt to hit a bullseye on the wooden target. Whether it’s for a planned celebration or a spontaneous Friday night trip, Corry AXE is the place to be for some thrill-seeking fun. Adjoined to KC’s Xpress on Center Street, axe throwers can pop over and get some pizza and ice cream to recharge before going back for more. Axe throwing has grown in popularity in recent years as more venues pop up across the country. Maker said there’s no reason residents or visitors should have to travel elsewhere to have an activity that appeals to adults both younger and older. Anyone over 14 years old is welcome to participate, but those who are under 18 will need parent consent and supervision. Maker said it’s a great activity for birthday parties or even work bonding events. After a quick training session and target practice with the pros, guests can take to the cages and get in the full swing of axe-throwing.
