After owning multiple businesses in the Corry area for more than 20 years, Jon Maker finally got to realize his dream of opening a restaurant in downtown Corry. And after he opened KC’s Express at 130 North Center Street in September 2022, he quickly added a special twist, with the opening of Corry Axe less than a year later. Diners at KC’s can enjoy wood-fired pizzas, subs, salads and various ice cream treats. The more adventurous also have the option of checking out the adjacent business to try their hand at axe throwing. As the owner of KC’s Ice Cream on Route 6, Maker already had a reputation for serving up great food. But he also had a desire to provide a new activity for the Corry community, so Corry Axe was added as a separate business adjacent to KC’s Express on North Center Street. And Maker is certainly engaged in the community. He has enjoyed watching the many local high school students he has employed over the years go on to college and to successful careers. He’s also committed to the area’s elderly residents, preparing and delivering tasty meals for only $8 to more than 100 folks each week through the kitchen of KC’s Ice Cream. There’s also one more way to catch Maker’s great food on the go, and that’s with KC’s Dawghouse, a food wagon that is present at all First Fridays and at a variety of pop-up sites.
