Harecreek Campground is just a hop, skip, and a jump to fun —owners Eric and Julie McCray took over the business from Eric’s parents — who established it in 1980 — and have continued the tradition of creating a spot where people can escape and reconnect with each other and with nature. Harecreek includes RV, tent, trailer, and cabin rental camping in a family- and pet-friendly environment. Eric and Julie’s sons said their favorite vacations growing up were ones when they camped, proving just how impactful camping can be. The campground has weekend activities in-season, along with an in-ground pool, playground, volleyball and basketball courts, games, and more. Nearby trail and creek access enables hunters and fishermen to getaway while also being off of Route 6, which connects visitors to nearby shopping, restaurants, and historical spots. The campground’s goal is to make a trip memorable, whether it’s sitting with family and friends around the campfire or watching the sunset over Hare Creek from your tent. Each year, Harecreek Campground celebrates Christmas in July with all the campers putting out elaborate light displays, and Christmas characters making appearances. Those who drive through the grounds for the event donate for a local charity each year, as the McCrays carry on their mission of cultivating community. The McCrays hope it’ll leave coming back “hare” again and again.
