Erin Brown and Missy Swartzfager have shattered the myth that good friends don’t make good business partners. Peace Bee, the duo’s women’s clothing boutique at 113 North Center Street, is typically bustling with customers who have come to expect a lot of individual attention from the co-owners who both happily serve as personal stylists. The shop carries more than 50 different brands, including Los Angeles clothing labels Be Stage and Easel, as well as Born Shoes, Judy Blue Jeans and American Darling custom handbags. Brown and Swartzfager have come a long way since they first met at their children’s preschool and subsequently ran a home-based LuLaroe business for nearly five years. They initially opened Peace Bee in September 2021 before moving across the street to the current location in August 2022. The space has been completely remodeled and provides a comfortable and contemporary atmosphere for shoppers. As their business has grown, so has their friendship. Brown is the extravert, gregariously dressing up (and chatting up) customers, while Swartzfager quietly focuses on the details, from scheduling appointments to handling the shipping. It’s a seemingly ideal partnership which will likely benefit their customers for years to come.
